SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Good news for anglers: It's time to restock West Virginia's trout streams.
The Division of Natural Resources starts its two-week fall program Monday.
Wildlife resources chief Curtis Taylor says 39,000 pounds of trout will be put in 25 streams and eight lakes. About 20 percent of the total will be brood trout.
Taylor says that stream flows in many areas are lower than last year, but the fish should still be able to spread out fairly well. But without more rain, stream flows are likely to be low and clear.
Taylor says that means anglers will need all their skill to succeed.
New Creek Dam 14 won't be stocked this fall because of ongoing repairs that required drainage. Taylor says it should be refilled for the 2013 stocking season.
