West Virginians for Life will have its 35th annual state pro-life convention from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 at Trinity Assembly of God, Fairmont. Doors open at 8 a.m. Lunch is included in the registration fee. Child care will be provided for a fee. For early registration and registration fees, call 304-594-9845 or visit wvforlife.org.

Tri-State Amateur Radio Association will offer examinations for those who want a new or upgraded amateur radio license from the Federal Communications Commission at 9 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Museum of Radio and Technology, Huntington. All examination elements will be offered for all amateur radio license classes. A fee of $15 per test will be charged. Pre-registration is not necessary, but applicants must complete FCC Form NCVEC 605, available at the exam session, and must bring all documents with them. Two forms of accepted identification, including one picture ID, must be presented. For information, call Gary Ritchie at 304-733-1300.

Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association will hold a Halloween pet parade Oct. 13 at Appalachian Power Park. Registration starts at 9:45 a.m.; parade begins at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $5 or a bag of dog food. Prizes will be awarded. Rain date is Oct. 20.

Hurricane Harvest Fest will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at Hurricane City Park. Inflatables, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, pet parade with prizes, carnival games, chili cook-off, fire trucks, pony buggy rides, vendors and fireworks will be featured. Vendor applications are available. Registration is also being taken for the chili cook-off. Call Brenda Campbell at 304-562-5896.
