LAVISTA, W.Va. -- Police are investigating a five-vehicle pileup in Fayette County that killed one person and injured three others.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office tells media outlets that one vehicle hit another head-on while attempting to pass a third vehicle. Two other vehicles then hit the wrecked vehicles.

The accident occurred Saturday afternoon on U.S. 60 in the Lavista area.

A 91-year-old woman died at the scene. Her name hasn't been released.

Three people suffered serious injuries and were taken to a Charleston hospital.
