CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A 24-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was found trapped inside her overturned minivan along Route 612 in Fayette County.
Marysa Smith, of Fayette County, was driving a Pontiac Montana minivan westbound on state Route 612 in Mossy when she ran off the road, causing the minivan to hit an embankment, Sheriff Steve Kessler said in a news release.
The Fayette County 911 Center got a call at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday about a single vehicle accident.
Smith was "heavily" trapped in the minivan, Kessler said. It took members of the Oak Hill Fire Department and Pax Fire Department 30 minutes to get Smith out of the minivan.
Jan Care and General Ambulance transported Smith to a nearby landing zone and she was taken via HealthNet helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment.
She is listed as critical at this time by hospital staff.
Investigators are unable to determine whether drug or alcohol are contributing factors at this time.
Route 612 was closed for one hour while crews removed Smith, cleaned the area, and Sheriff's Deputies conducted their investigation, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputy J.M. Browning of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. Sgt. S.L. Campbell, Deputy A.E. Roberts and Deputy S.K. Neal of the Fayette County's Sheriff's Department assisted Browning on the scene.
