Attorney General Darrell McGraw will have a consumer advocate from his office available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Hansford Senior Center, 500 Washington St., St. Albans. The advocate will answer questions about consumer protection issues, take complaints and process free credit reports for seniors and citizens in the St. Albans community. Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the East End Family Resource Center Senior Program, is recruiting people to become Charleston ambassadors. Volunteer ambassadors will engage in varied activities to enhance the visitor's experience in Charleston, such as staffing a welcome table at Yeager Airport during large conventions or assisting with CCVB events. Charleston WV Christian Women will have a Country Hoedown and Auction from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Columbia Gas Transmission, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. The price is $16 inclusive. Bring a friend. A silent/live basket and bake sale auction will be held. WCHS-TV meteorologist Ashley Smith will be the celebrity auctioneer. Nancy Jo Gibson, of Waynesboro, Va., will speak on "This isn't what I signed up for!" Bring homemade baked goods and craft items. Registration deadline is Monday.
