Dislocated miners and family members invited to informational sessions on training grant
WorkForce West Virginia encourages dislocated miners and displaced homemakers impacted by a coal mining layoff after March 1, and covered under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, to attend upcoming informational sessions about a training grant for which they may be eligible.
Under a National Emergency Grant awarded to WorkForce West Virginia, dislocated miners and family members may be eligible for training focusing on in-demand jobs outside the coal mining industry including assistance with training costs. Eligible participants can receive up to $5,000 for classroom training in a high-demand occupation. Find out more at these three informational sessions:
- Oct. 16 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Logan;
- Oct. 17 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Bridgemont Community and Technical College in Montgomery; and
- Oct. 18 from 2 to 7 p.m. at New River Community and Technical College in Ghent.
