W.Va. man admits reselling bath salts from Ohio
WHEELING, W.Va. -- A man who bought bath salts at a convenience store in Columbus, Ohio, then resold them in West Virginia has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute synthetic drugs.
Phillip James Hamilton, 36, of Wick, admitted Thursday in U.S. District Court in Wheeling that he repackaged the drugs back home in Tyler County and resold them.
Under the plea bargain submitted to Judge Frederick Stamp, Hamilton agreed to forfeit $608 in cash, a handgun and a sport-utility vehicle seized when he was arrested last year.
Hamilton is free on bond until sentencing, when he could get up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
