Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a shore hike Sunday at Lake Vesuvius, located six miles from Ironton, Ohio. Meet at 8 a.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at Iron Furnace near the dam. The hike is about 9 miles on a moderate trail. Bring a lunch. An optional Italian dinner in Ironton, Ohio, will be held following the hike.
Town of Buffalo will have its 25th annual Buffalo Octoberfest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Buffalo Shopping Center. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatables, a flea market and more. Free food booths, free special activities space and free booth/exhibit space is available. A Family Fun Fest will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and a Halloween Costume Contest will be held at 3 p.m. WVU "Tailgate Tent" with corn hole, living history enactors and a car show are also featured. Third Annual Walk of F.A.I.T.H will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Park next to the Wave Pool in Hurricane in conjunction with the National Awareness Day for pregnancy and infant loss. The ceremony consists of a one-mile walk, memorial for little angels, dove release, food, crafts and entertainment for the children, and a silent auction. Sales from T-shirts, bracelets and other items will help raise money for next year's event. A table will be set up to display items in remembrance of babies to share with others.
