NATRIUM, W.Va. -- A $500 million Dominion Resources natural gas processing plant is on track to open later this year in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle.

Construction of the plant is under way along the Ohio River in Natrium in Marshall County.

Dominion spokesman Charles Penn tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that the plant is still expected to being operations in December.

Penn says 903 construction workers are building the plant, including 299 local workers.

Members of the Affiliated Construction Trades Foundation have criticized Richmond, Va.-based Dominion and the contractor for not hiring more local construction workers.

Once completed, the plant will employ 40 to 45 permanent workers. It will process 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
