DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Police in Dunbar are looking for a man who allegedly knocked on a woman's door and then sexually assaulted her Thursday morning.

Dunbar Police Chief Earl Whittington said the suspect knocked on the woman's door in the 1300 block of Lightner Avenue in Dunbar around 8:30 a.m.

The man then struck the woman in the face, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her, Whittington said.

The man fled before the woman called police. He may have gotten into a green compact-style car, Whittington said.

The suspect is described as a cleanly shaven black male with curly black hair, standing about 6 foot tall. He was wearing all-black sweat pants, shirt, toboggan and gloves, Whittington said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dunbar Police Department at 304-766-0204.

Whittington urged residents not to answer the door without first identifying the person on the other side.
