Wayne County school board names interim chief
Advertiser

WAYNE, W.Va. -- A former Wayne County schools superintendent is back on the job temporarily while a search takes place for a permanent replacement for the previous superintendent.

Media outlets report Mike Ferguson was named interim superintendent this week.

The county school board will be looking for a replacement for Gary Adkins, who resigned earlier this month, citing health reasons.

Ferguson served as superintendent from 1984 to 1993. He left to become a middle school principal then returned to work at the board office until his retirement in 2003.
