WHEELING, W.Va. -- The producers of "Doughboy" are holding special screenings across the country to celebrate Veterans Day.

The independent film was shot and set in West Virginia, and follows a boy as he learns about the sacrifices that the U.S. military has made.

Proceeds from the Nov. 11 screenings will go to local veteran organizations.

Two showings are in West Virginia, at the Strand Theatre in Moundsville and the Towngate Theater in Wheeling.

The movie's website lists other theaters in Columbus, Ohio; Platteville, Wis.; Pineville, Ky.; Cumberland, Md.; Milford, Pa.; Raleigh, N.C.; Naples, Fla.; Brookfield, Mo.; Warsaw, N.Y.; and Gainesville, Texas.

Executive producer Kristin Seibert says it's a family film that should open up dialogue between generations about service and sacrifice. The movie will be released nationally next year.
