Likewise, $4,500 of the $21,350 raised at Maloney's biggest fundraiser during the period, Oct. 19 in Morgantown, were from contributors from Kansas, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
It is not uncommon for candidates to hold individual campaign contributions in order to count them toward total amounts raised at campaign fundraising events.
Additionally, four of the six individual contributions to Maloney that were in excess of $250 -- which requires disclosure of the donor's name, address and profession -- were from out of state, accounting for $3,000 of the $3,800 in total contributions in that category.
Maloney campaign spokesman Kent Sholars could not be reached for comment Tuesday, while Tomblin campaign spokesman Chris Stadelman declined comment.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In his latest round of fundraising, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Maloney reached out -- out of state, that is.
According to his campaign financial disclosures, more than half of the contributions Maloney received between Sept. 24 and Oct. 21 -- at least $66,100 out of a total $131,027 raised -- were from out-of-state contributors.
Four of the 12 campaign fundraising events Maloney hosted during the period, including two of his three biggest in terms of dollars raised, were held outside of West Virginia.
Those included an event at the Palm Restaurant in Philadelphia Oct. 11 that raised $19,150, and a Sept. 26 event at Bernardsville, N.J., that brought in $17,050.
Maloney's other out-of-state fundraisers were in Indianapolis on Oct. 1, which raised $7,750, and at Pittsburgh's exclusive Duquesne Club on Sept. 23, which netted $3,150.
Those fundraisers accounted for $47,100 of the $121,425 Maloney raised at events during the reporting period, or about 38 percent of the total.
By comparison, three of the 17 fundraisers Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin hosted during the reporting period were held out of state.
