The Nina and Pinta, to stay here extra week
Advertiser

The Nina and Pinta, replicas of two of the ships in Columbus' 1492 discovery fleet, will stay in Charleston an extra week because of the snowstorm.

"Due to Hurricane Sandy, hundreds of school children had to cancel their field trip to the ships this week, so we have extended our visit so that they will have an opportunity to reschedule," Captain Morgan Sanger said in a news release Tuesday.

The ships, which were scheduled to depart for Huntington on Monday, will now stay at Haddad Riverfront Park through Nov. 11.

Teachers and other groups wishing to reschedule or schedule a 30-minute guided tour with a crew member can call 1-787-672-2152 or email colum...@surfbvi.com. The group rate is $5 per person.
