CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Fire caused minor damage to a church between Charleston and Sissonville late Wednesday.

Kanawha County Fire Coordinator C.W. Sigman said a fire broke out at the Elizabeth Baptist Church on Wolf Pen Drive at about 10:30 p.m., about the same time that electricity was restored in the area. He said the fire broke out near the church pulpit and may have involved the church sound system.

Crews from the Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire.

"The fire department did a really good job with it and kept damage to a minimum," Sigman said. He said the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
