Workers from South Charleston-based Ertel Construction work on faulty power lines above Loudon Heights Road in Charleston on Thursday afternoon. Crews from surrounding states have been working with Appalachian Power employees to restore electricity after the remnants of Hurricane Sandy brought snow and high winds to the region earlier this week.

Crews from Appalachian Power, Ertel and North Carolina-based Duke Energy used the parking lot at Holz Elementary School as a staging area on Thursday.

Tree limbs and power lines remained down in front of this house on Loudon Heights Road on Thursday.
