CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin is highlighting an initiative aimed at protecting West Virginia's elderly citizens.

Goodwin is set to speak to Kanawha County senior citizens today in Charleston.

Officials say he will discuss crime problems of special concern for seniors, including prescription drug theft, home invasions and identity theft scams.

Goodwin recently has visited senior center locations in Nicholas, Fayette, Summers, Boone and Jackson counties to speak to seniors and offer tips aimed at keeping them safe.

Today's visit coincides with an initiative led by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
