CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- About 600 retailers are signed up to participate in the West Virginia Lottery's annual food drive.

The "Give and Win Food Drive" is set for Nov. 5-9, the lottery announced.

For every nonperishable, canned food donation, donors will receive a free West Virginia Lottery promotional ticket, while supplies last. The tickets, which can't be purchased over the counter and are used throughout the year at special events, have prizes ranging from $1 to $100. The average odds of winning are 1 in 4.76.

Retailers will distribute the donated food to food banks and charities.

The annual food drive was started in 2006 in conjunction with the lottery's 20th anniversary.
