GREAT CACAPON -- Residents and Morgan County officials are fighting the U.S. Postal Service's plan to cut service hours at the Great Capacon Post Office.
The Postal Service plans to reduce the post office's service hours from eight to six on weekdays beginning in 2013. Postmaster Rick Dunn could be replaced with a part-time postmaster or take a pay cut.
Morgan County Commissioner Keith DeBlasio tells The Journal that he filed a formal complaint last week with the Postal Regulatory Commission on behalf of his nonprofit business AdvoCare Inc.
Resident Cheryl Rink says she sent five letters and an email protesting the changes.
The County Commission has created form appeal letters and pre-addressed envelopes for residents to send to the Postal Regulatory Commission.
The Postal Service lost $5.1 billion in fiscal 2011.
