DUNBAR, W.Va. -- Dunbar City Council members held a presentation to honor a fallen police officer Monday night.

Mayor Jack Yeager said the family of Lt. John Little, who lost his battle with cancer last week, was presented with his duty weapon at the meeting.

Little was a 17-year member of the police force. The weapon was disarmed and placed in a box with an inscription on it.

The entire Dunbar Police Department was present at the meeting, Yeager said.

Also Monday, council members learned that the Federal Emergency Management Agency would reimburse the city for $5,500 in damages that the town sustained during the derecho in late June.

Among the city's property that was damaged were brand new American flags that had been lined up and flying on Dunbar Avenue but blew away in the violent windstorm.

Council members also awarded a $19,800 bid to Powell Glass, which will install new doors at City Hall. The installation is the final piece of an energy efficiency conservation grant for the building.

"The last piece of that [grant money] was putting the new doors up," Yeager said.

Also Monday, council recognized the Dunbar Women's Club members for their help in beautifying the city.
