FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Marion County Board of Education has fired a freshman cheerleading coach who's accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student.

Amanda Jo Barker also is barred from attending future high school events.

The Times West-Virginian reports that the school board unanimously voted Monday to fire Barker from her coaching job at North Marion High School.

West Virginia State Police arrested the 31-year-old Barker on Oct. 23 on three counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.
