WHEELING, W.Va. -- Wheeling voters have scrapped a 40-year-old city ordinance that required two police officers to be in a cruiser when on patrol.
Media outlets report that voters approved an ordinance rescinding and repealing the law in Tuesday's general election.
City Council agreed this summer to put the issue on the general election ballot.
Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger has said repealing the law would give him flexibility to allocate resources.
