ELKINS, W.Va. -- A Belington lawyer faces up to 20 years in prison for defrauding the West Virginia Public Defender Services.

Forty-three-year-old Lisa A. Weese pleaded guilty to mail fraud Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Elkins.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II says Weese received more than $159,000 from the agency for hours she didn't work. Weese submitted false voucher reports by mail to the agency from September 2006 to September 2011.

Weese also faces a $250,000 fine. She remains free on bond pending sentencing.
