First bridge over Great Kanawha River
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The first bridge over the Great Kanawha River was built in 1891. It is seen here with the C&O Railway station circa 1905. The bridge was replaced in 1937. The station serves today with Amtrak's Cardinal, which runs between New York and Chicago. Photo courtesy West Virginia State Archives
