CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A West Virginia wildlife official says the heavy snowfall from superstorm Sandy isn't expected to hurt the state's buck gun season.
But Division of Natural Resources assistant wildlife chief Paul Johansen says bow hunters might have trouble getting into some areas.
While food conditions have been spotty, Johansen tells The Register-Herald that deer are entering the winter in good shape nutritionally. He expects the overall deer kill to be up from the 2011 seasons.
Deer hunting contributes $230 million to West Virginia's economy annually.
