MINDEN, W.Va. -- Three men broke into a Fayette County home, where they shot one visitor and beat another before stealing cellphones and cash early Thursday, police say.

Police believe the same suspects committed a home invasion and robbery at that home earlier this year.

At about 1:04 a.m., Fayette County Sheriff's deputies were called to reports of a home invasion and one shooting victim at a Minden home, according to a news release.

Jorail Giddings, 21, of Detroit, was found shot and Christopher Andrew Jackson, 23, also of Detroit, had been hit in the head several times with a handgun, Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler said.

Deputies learned three masked men had forced their way in and confronted the homeowners. Giddings and Jackson were visiting the homeowners, Kessler said.

One suspect, armed with a handgun, beat Jackson and shot Giddings before fleeing, he said. The suspects allegedly stole cash and the victim's cellphones. The homeowners and their three children were not injured.

Paramedics took Giddings to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill and then later to CAMC General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday night.

Jackson was treated at Plateau Medical Center and released.

The victims described one suspect as "tall, skinny and light-skinned" and another suspect as "short and chubby," Kessler said.

There was no description on the third suspect or the suspects' vehicle.

Kessler said detectives believe the home invasion is drug-related and a similar incident was reported at the home on Jan. 18.

Three suspects allegedly broke into the home before taking cash and cellphones from two visitors at gunpoint.
