The state Ethics Commission says in a statement of charges that former chief deputy assessor William Perry used public equipment, employees and resources to run a private business. The Dominion Post obtained the statement of charges.
Perry told the newspaper that he wasn't aware of the charges. His attorney's office declined comment.
A previous ethics case against Perry was dismissed last year. He was accused of using a county phone and his official title to offer to buy property from a county resident. The commission said there wasn't proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he'd violated the state Ethics Act.
County Assessor Rodney Pyles says Perry retired in 2010.
