Kanawha Valley Railroad Association will hold its annual holiday open house at the Coonskin Park Clubhouse from 3 to 9 p.m. Nov. 23 and 24, and through December from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike Nov. 25 on Kanawha State Forest's Shrewsbury/Alligator/Middle Ridge/Mossy/Snipe trails. Meet to carpool at 1:30 p.m. from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at the swimming pool parking lot. The hike is approximately four miles on a moderate trail with some steep and rocky sections.

South Charleston Lions Club and United Methodist Women from Dunbar United Methodist Church will sponsor a pancake breakfast with Santa and Friends from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1 at the Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Ave. All proceeds will be used to support the food baskets that will be distributed for Christmas under the direction of Heart and Hand of South Charleston. The price is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12; and free to children 3 and under. Pancakes, sausages, juice, milk, coffee and sugar-free syrup will be featured. Marmet Recreation Center will host a Christmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Marmet recreation building. Crafts, jewelry, Avon, Longaberger baskets, wooden crafts, baked goods and more will be featured. Concessions will sell hot dogs, barbecues and soft drinks. Craft tables are available for rental for $10 for the first table and $5 for additional tables. Call Barry at 304-949-9692 for information.
