Woman kept mom's assets from siblings, police say

UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- State police say a West Virginia woman has illegally kept assets from her dead Pennsylvania mother's $677,000 estate from five siblings, including a baseball card collection worth $147,000.

The siblings have sued 47-year-old Marlene Wesolowsky, of Morgantown, W.Va., and now state police in Uniontown, Pa. have filed a theft charge against her.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Tuesday the charges were filed after police investigated claims made in ongoing litigation against the woman.

Online court records don't list a criminal defense attorney for Wesolowsky and her former civil attorney won't comment on the criminal charges.

Wesolowsky's brother, Michael Mehall, tells the newspaper he wants to pass on the 250,000-card collection to his son. It was stored at his mother's house until she died in 2007, and contains rare cards featuring Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.
