BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- A Huntington businessman who died in 2009 has left $721,000 to West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.

The school says the donation will create the Robert and Kathlyn Fletcher Scholarship to support students from Cabell and surrounding counties.

Earlier this month, Fletcher's estate made an equal donation to Marshall University to create an engineering professorship.

The State Journal says the family business, J.H. Fletcher & Co., manufactures underground roof systems for coal and limestone mines at a plant in Huntington.

The couple became connected with Wesleyan in the 1960s through their minister at First United Methodist Church in Huntington.

Robert Fletcher eventually served as a college trustee.
