FUTURE EVENTS

Bread of Life will hold a toy drive for needy children from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Kmart in Teays Valley. Names of the children still needing to be adopted, along with their toy choice and clothing size will be made available to those wanting to sponsor a child.  Sponsors can adopt a child and purchase items from Kmart and leave them with the group. Upshur Arts Alliance will sponsor its fourth annual Decorated Tree and Wreath Auction beginning Monday and continuing until noon Dec. 4. Shoppers may visit the First Community Bank during business hours to place a silent bid on favorite trees, wreaths and swags until the bidding closes. Elk Valley Public Service District commissioners will have a board meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday at 100 Bream Drive, Elkview.

Boone Memorial Hospital will sponsor a Lunch and Learn "Healthy You" Series from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the BMH Conference Room, second floor. The lunch is free. Presenter will be Jim Strawn, co-author of the "Sad Mad Glad" books. Strawn is a native West Virginian and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he received his bachelor of science degree. He graduated with a master's degree from West Virginia College of Graduate studies. He has been the director of marketing and community education at Highland Hospital since 1996.
