Join Renea Crozier and the Women With Abundant Life,: 1534 Washington St. E., at its Fourth Annual Purse Auction at 7 p.m. on Friday at the church. The theme is "Purses with a Purpose" and proceeds from the auction will go to the Helping Kids in Need Foundation. This event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served. Unitarian Universalist Congregation: will host the 10th annual River Arts Sale and Showcase from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at 520 Kanawha Blvd. West. A gourmet luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 8 for $8. Raffle tickets for artists' selected works will be sold throughout the event. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle: will have a baked and barbecue chicken dinners from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the church, 1546 Third Ave. The cost is $7 for chicken thighs and $8 for chicken breasts. Dinner includes two sides, dinner roll and cake. Sides include greens, green beans, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. Free delivery for orders over $15. Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle's Missionary Department: will sponsor a Soup for the Soul event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Switzer Center, 900 Griffith Drive. Soup, sandwiches, drinks, music, story time and gifts will be featured.

Holiday events/services

West Virginia Symphony Chorus: will present "Midnight Mass for Christmas," by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and "Magnificat," by Charles Theodore Pachelbel at 8 p.m. Nov. 29 at Johnson Memorial Methodist Church, 513 10th St., Huntington, and at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 at Christ Church United Methodist, Quarrier and Morris streets. A freewill offering will be received.

B'nai Jacob Synagogue: will have a Chanukah Gift and Art Show/Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at its location, 1599 Virginia St. Artists, authors, photographers, potters, jewelry designers, weavers, woodworkers and more will be featured. A potato latke lunch can be purchased beginning at 11 a.m. Books include "One Hundred Years and Still Cooking, Mrs. Jillian Cooper"; "Missing" children's book by Colleen Anderson; "34 Instant Stress Busters -- Quick tips to de-stress fast with no extra time or money," by author Aila Accad who will do a hands-on EFT demonstrations for de-stressing for the holidays. Artists and jewelry designers include Randy Selbe, Charlotte Pritt, Jennifer McGee, Theresa Young and more. Loudendale Church of the Nazarene: will hold its Christmas Cantata at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 and at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the church.

Parchment Valley Conference Center,: located in Ripley, will celebrate Christmas with a concert, craft show, pictures with Santa and activities for children on Dec. 8. The craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; pictures with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon; free children's activities from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and a concert featuring Johnny Staats at 3 p.m. Craft space is available for $35 for a 10x10 space or $45 if electricity is required. WVBC church groups  (youth, AB Women's Ministries, AB Men, etc.) will receive a $10 discount on booth space. Music groups are also sought to perform 45 minutes throughout the craft show. Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church,: North Monroe St., Alderson, will have its Eighth Annual Christmas Bazaar and Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the church. Crafts, baked goods, white elephant sale and a silent auction will be featured. Proceeds will benefit the church. For more information, contact Patty Proffitt at 304-445-2544.

First Baptist Church of Vandalia Male Chorus and St. Paul Baptist Church Male Chorus: will present "Christmas in the Valley" at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, Teays Valley. The Male Chorus of Vandalia will perform "Christmas Up on the Hill" at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Vandalia, 1500 Mountain Road. For information, call 304-766-8254.

Marmet First Baptist Church: will sponsor a Christmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at Marmet Recreation Building. Crafts, jewelry, baked goods, Longaberger baskets, wooden crafts and more will be featured. A hot dog sale will be held. Proceeds go to the pre-school program. For information, call 304-949-9692.

The Promised Land Quartet from Shenandoah Valley, Va.: will perform a Christmas concert at 11 am. Dec. 9 at Meadow Grove Baptist Church, Dawson-Springdale Road in Greenbrier County. Admission is free, however, a love gift offering will be taken.

Music

A gospel sing: will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Marmet Recreation Building. Admission is two cans of non-perishable food. All proceeds will go to Operation Love Outreach.

A song and praise service with The Huffmans: will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Heights Church, 1201 Chestnut St., Spring Hill Mountain in South Charleston.

A gospel sing: will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Marmet Recreation Building. Admission is five cans of non-perishable food. All proceeds go to Operation Love Outreach. Thanks to Chesapeake Worship Center and Barry Pauley, Recreation Director. Groups include Andy and Greg, Eddie and Marilyn, Randy Saunders and Three Generations.

The Praisemen: will sing at 7 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Memorial Church. Freeman Newhouse, the Young Adults, and Choir will sing. Refreshments will be served in the Family Center following the sing. Pastor is Aaron Finney. The church is located 1/2 mile on Dudden Fork Road off Goldtown Exit of Interstate 77.

John Phillips: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Chapel, Sixth Avenue.

The Brighterside Quartet: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Union Valley Gospel Tabernacle, Tupper's Creek.

Special services

The Upper Kanawha Valley Minister and Deacon Fellowship: will hold its fourth Sunday fellowship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Central Baptist Church, Eagle. Speaker will be Minister Lawrence Washington, an associate of Eagle Central.

Red Oak Christian Community Church,: Red Oak Drive, Nitro, will have a song and prayer service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church. Singing will be provided by Christian Echoes. Pastors are Victor Keathley and Roy Jarrell.

Good Shepherd Freewill Baptist Church,: 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, will have Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday and the morning worship at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Booton preaching. The prayer meeting and youth group meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
