Al-Anon will have meetings for friends and family of alcoholics. Alateen meetings are for teens who deal with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend. Al-Anon meetings take place at 8 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; 7 p.m. Thursdays, Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive. Alateen meetings take place at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive; and at 7 p.m. Sundays, the Legacy Study Group meets at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston.

Fayette County Historical Society will have its holiday luncheon at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Glen Ferris Inn, near Gauley Bridge along U.S. 60. Participants are asked to bring two nonperishable food items per person to be donated to a local food pantry. Each person will place his own food order and be responsible for the cost. New members are welcome.

University of Charleston Builders will have their annual Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 5 in the Erma Byrd Art Gallery, Riggleman Hall, on the UC campus. The University Singers will give their "We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" performance of songs of the holiday season. A carol sing-along will highlight the program closing.
