Debris-removal contractors to meet Wednesday in Flatwoods
Advertiser

FLATWOODS, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Division of Highways will conduct a mandatory meeting Wednesday for contractors interested in bidding on debris-removal projects from superstorm Sandy.

The meeting will be held at the Days Hotel in Flatwoods.

The contracts are for the removal of downed trees, damaged roots and brush from DOH rights-of-way.

Attendees of the meeting must be licensed contractors and meet DOH specifications.

Bids will be received Dec. 6.

Secretary of Transportation Paul Mattox has said the state's cost of cleaning up roads from the storm would reach $6 million.

The late-October storm dumped more than 2 feet of snow in the highest elevations and left more than a quarter-million residents without power.
