CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A documentary project surrounding the lives of McDowell County residents has received a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council.

Hollow, an interactive documentary project, received a $20,000 media grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council Board of Directors, according to a news release.

The project will feature interactive content about stereotypes associated with the area, population loss and potential for the future. It will launch in the spring of 2013.

Project director Elaine McMillion and her team worked throughout the summer filming locations, interviewing county leaders and holding workshops with residents.

The project raised $28,000 online and received other money from the TFI New Media Fund. The Tribeca Film Institute also selected the project in August to receive a grant, according to the release.
