NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. -- The Hancock County Sheriff's Department is looking for homes for three horses that were seized in a drug case.
Media outlets reported that the horses are among 10 seized earlier this year. Homes were found for the other seven horses.
Sheriff Mike White says his department doesn't have a place to house the horses during the winter.
Hancock County dog warden Nicole Busick says the horses could be euthanized as a last resort if no one takes them.
Busick said the horses have special needs because of their previous living conditions. One's growth was severely stunted from a lack of nutrition and growing up in small, confined areas. The others' legs are weak because they didn't get sufficient exercise.
