Workers tackle repairs to the Nitro-St. Albans bridge piers Wednesday. Replacement of the aging span began earlier this year. The West Virginia Division of Highways decided to build a new bridge atop the existing piers after they are upgraded. The $23.6 million span across the Kanawha River is to have three lanes and no superstructure.
