Three miners in north central W.Va. hurt when impoundment road collapses

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Three miners were hurt early this afternoon when the road at a CONSOL Energy coal-slurry impoundment collapsed and their vehicles fell into the impoundment.

Two of the workers at CONSOL's Robinson Run Mine along the Harrison-Marion County border were supervisors driving a pickup truck, officials said. Both of those men were rescued and hospitalized.

The third worker, a United Mine Workers hourly employee, was operating a dozer and is still unaccounted for, according to officials from the state Office of Miners Health, Safety and Training.
