W.Va. plant site sold to development groups
BEECH BOTTOM, W.Va. -- A 600-acre property that belonged to Wheeling Corrugating has a new owner.
The Weirton Daily Times says the Business Development Corp. of the Northern Panhandle has completed a deal that was in the works for weeks.
It gives the BDC control of the Beech Bottom site, including 150 prime, flat acres on the Ohio River and 480,000 square feet of warehouse space.
State Route 2 LLC, a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Hackman Capital, owns the rights to the equipment.
Spokeswoman Susan Skros says Hackman wants to put the site to better economic use and create jobs.
Hackman bought the property out of bankruptcy from RG Steel but didn't reveal the price.
Beech Bottom Mayor George Lewis says it's the best thing that's happened in his community in 30 years.
