Coonskin holiday lights
Kenny Kemp
Christmas lights in Coonskin Park in Charleston shine a holiday greeting to passersby. The Lights of Coonskin began at dusk Saturday and will be open each night to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31. There is no charge to see the display, but donations are accepted.

The Lights of Coonskin, shown here, got a late start this year because of the summer's windstorm and October's snowstorm, organizers say. The lights, which are typically turned on the day after Thanksgiving, came on Dec. 1 instead. Santa is scheduled to visit the Family Center at Coonskin from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Dec. 14, 15 and 16.
