CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The U.S. Postal Service will collect mail on two Sundays before the Christmas holiday in the Charleston area.

Mail in ZIP codes from 25301 through 25315 will be collected by 4 p.m. Dec. 9 and 16, Postal Service officials said in a news release Monday.

"We are asking our customers to please deposit their mail in the blue mail boxes in these areas by 4 p.m. on those days," Postal Service Appalachian District Manager Larry Wagener said in the release. "Since we are expecting a higher than normal mail volume on Mondays during the holidays, we are making these extra collections on Sunday to meet our service standards."

Wagener also urged customers to mail early in the day during the holiday season. "We will have early collections throughout our area during the holiday mailing season and it's helpful for us to get the mail volume early in the day," he said.
