CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Meteorologists with the National Weather Service said several cities around West Virginia had some of the driest November precipitation on record.

Normally about 3 to 4 inches of precipitation is measured every November, including rainfall and melting snow, according to a news release.

Only about 0.7 inches of rain was measured in Beckley this November, the driest since 2001 when only 0.6 inches fell down there.

About 0.44 inches of precipitation came down in Parkersburg, making this the second-driest November since it was measured at 0.11 in 1904.

It was also the third-driest November in Huntington with only 0.62 inches of rain. The driest was in 2001 when 0.10 inches fell.

Charleston experienced its seventh-driest November on record with 1.05 inches of precipitation. The driest was measured in 1904 when 0.45 inches fell.
