Woman hit, killed by train in Chapmanville

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. -- Police are investigating the death of a woman who was hit by a train in Chapmanville.

Chapmanville police tell media outlets that 29-year-old Shannon Marie Blankenship was hit by a CSX train while crossing railroad tracks near Commerce Park.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. Monday.

Police say Blankenship was taken to Logan Regional Hospital, where she later died.
