Theatre West Virginia erases debt, ready for 2013
Advertiser

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Theatre West Virginia has erased its debt and is raising money for its 2013 season.

Wednesday's announcement by general manager Gayle Bowling comes a year after financial problems forced the theater to close its doors for nearly four months.

Bowling tells The Register-Herald that the theater has secured a line of credit to pay expenses until it receives $265,000 in state funding. But another $80,000 is needed to cover expenses beyond the state funding.

The theater is seeking other grants. Its annual membership campaign will begin in February.

Next year's season will include a special adaptation of "Honey in the Rock" that goes on tour in March. The drama tells the story of how West Virginia achieved statehood.
