W.Va. DEP honors communities for cleanup efforts

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A state agency has recognized four communities for their cleanup and beautification efforts.

The Department of Environmental Protection's Make It Shine Program honored New Cumberland in Hancock County; Camden-on-Gauley in Webster County, Odd in Raleigh County, and Beech Bottom in Brooke County.

Beech Bottom was named the grand prize winner and will receive $500 to use for additional projects.

The DEP also bestowed a countywide award to the Putnam County Solid Waste Authority. The authority will receive $2,000 to use for cleanup and other projects.
