Two men sought in Rand 'bear hug' robbery

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police are looking for two men who allegedly robbed an 18-year-old man in Rand late Thursday night.

Kanawha County sheriff's deputies said James Lovett was standing on Davidson Avenue in Rand around 10 p.m. when a newer-model dark blue Ford Focus stopped in front of him.

Two black males exited the vehicle; one allegedly placed Lovett in a "bear hug"-style restraint while the other suspect stole his wallet and MP3 player, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Lovett was not injured in the incident.

The suspects are in their early 20s, 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds each. One male had dreadlocks and was wearing blue jeans and a white sweater jacket. The other suspect was wearing black jeans, a black jacket and white baseball cap. They fled east on Davidson Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. S.C. Layne at the sheriff's office at 304-357-0169.
