After placing a memorial wreath during a ceremony Friday at the Lee Street Triangle, Pearl Harbor survivor Wetzel Sanders of Midkiff joins others in singing "God Bless America" at Charleston's Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony. Sanders, 89, joined the U.S. Army at age 17 (he later joined the Marines) and was serving in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was attacked by naval air forces from the Empire of Japan on Dec. 7, 1941. Another Pearl Harbor survivor, Chester McNeely, 91, of Belle, also attended Friday's ceremony.
