BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -- The Bluefield-area community has banded together to revive a high school band's Disney World trip following a robbery.
A campaign launched by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph raised $2,573 for the Bluefield High School band for the trip in May.
The trip was put in jeopardy after a band boosters concession stand was robbed earlier this fall of about $1,000 worth of concessions. Money from those sales throughout the year was being used to help finance the trip. No arrests have been made.
The $2,000 fundraising goal was surpassed last week when a supermarket donated $1,000. Also among the donors was the Princeton High School band.
