OPERA AT THE MOVIES: 12:55 p.m., The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Verdi's "Aida" will screen live at Regal Nitro and Cinemark Huntington Mall. The production runs four hours. Tickets at Nitro are $20 for adults and $16 for seniors and children. At Huntington, they are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for children. ART OPEN HOUSE: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hurricane's Arts and Thoughts Studio, 3818 Teays Valley Road. An artist's gathering will take place at 4:30 p.m. and, throughout the day, children are invited to paint ornaments for patients for St. Mary's Medical Center. COOKIE WALK: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Southridge Walmart parking lot, directly across from McDonald's. Unique and festive holiday cookies -- made by local household bakers -- will be available for purchase. Cookies are $8 per pound and boxed for gift giving. Checks and cash will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: 8 to 11 a.m., Shoney's on Kanawha Boulevard. Sponsored by Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to speak. Parents can take pictures with their own cameras if they wish.

PINCH CHRISTMAS PARADE: 5 to 8 p.m., with staging at New Beginnings Church at 5 p.m. Parade steps off at 6 p.m.
