The blaze completely destroyed the house along Terrace Lane in Alum Creek. The family is now staying with friends and relatives for Christmas, said an Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department dispatcher.
The blaze started at about 8:30 p.m. and it took firefighters about an hour to extinguish it. The fire's cause is still under investigation.
